The Times for Service form gives you a very different view of the schedule than is presented in the Service Planner. Rather than a picture of the individual Shifts for a week, it shows the schedule over many weeks, represented in terms of Time Patterns. In the figure below, you can see a Times for Service form that shows a changing schedule.

Figure 64: Setting the Times for Service
Lets look at the elements of the Times for Service form, what they mean and how they are used.
| List | The list shows the Time Patterns and the dates that they go into effect, with the earliest dated patterns at the bottom. Clicking on a line in the list brings up that pattern below. The icons in the left column identify the nature of the pattern.
~ means that it is based on existing Shifts. In other words, these patterns have been scheduled.
>> indicates the first Time Pattern that has not yet started to be scheduled. |
| Add | Use this button to add a new Time Pattern at a particular date. For a brand-new Service, it puts in a new one without times (with a Status of Active). On a service that already has Time Patterns, the new entry will already the pattern that already exists at that time, ready to edit. |
| Add a Copy | This button makes a copy of the Time Pattern that is selected (including its Status), and lets you choose the date when it goes into effect. Youll be asked for confirmation if an existing pattern will be overwritten. The default date is the next available start-of-week. |
| Remove | This can be used to remove an unwanted Time Pattern, as long as there are no Shifts that conflict with the removal. It is only activated when a removable Time Pattern is selected. The previous pattern will automatically be continued in place of the removed one. |
| Show All | When there is a lot of history on a Service, there may be quite a number of changing patterns going back to the beginning of activity. Most of the time, you don't need to see these, but you can always click on the Show All button to see the full history. |
| Date | This field displays the date that the selected Time Pattern goes into effect. It is never directly editable. |
| Plan | The Plan button opens the Service Planner to the week of the selected Time Pattern. This can be a handy way to jump backward or forward to a week when a different Time Pattern began. |
| Status | This shows the Status of the Service during the selected Time Pattern, and allows you to change the Status as desired. Optionally, you can enter a reason for this status change. This is especially helpful for recording why a Client left for future reference.
Note that when the Status is Inactive or Discontinued, there will be no Times down below. See the section entitled Service Status for a discussion of this important concept. |
| Times | The full pattern of times and days is displayed here and can be edited. This is where you actually setup the ongoing Time Pattern of Shifts. See Entering Time Patterns. |
| Apply/Revert | These buttons are only available when you have made a change to the displayed times and days. Click Apply to accept the changes, Revert to go back to the way it was when you started. Note that the Apply button only lights up when you have a "legal" format for the time pattern. For more detail about how Apply and Revert work, see the section entitled Saving and Rejecting Changes: Apply and Revert. |
It may be that the needs of a Client change from day-to-day and week-to-week. You can enter as many patterns as you need to, and Rosemark will keep track of these changes as the days and weeks progress.
