Services

A Service is what you provide for a Client, and what you need to schedule. A Service Planner represents the schedule for an individual Service.

In most cases, each Client will have a single Service, but a Client can have any number of Services. For example, they may need someone to come in daily to help with medical needs, and only once a week to help with housecleaning. These two different needs would be handled by separate Services, of two different Service Types.

Adding a Service

To add a Service to a Client, click on the Add button on the Client form (Summary tab), next to the list of Services. When you do so, a new Service form will be opened.

When you ask to add a second Service, the Scheduling System will prompt you, to make sure thats what you really want to do. Note that, in most cases, a single Service is all that is needed for a Client. There are some cases where adding another Service makes sense. See Multiple Services for more information.

You dont need to add a Service in order to change the times, change caregivers, or make other adjustments to the Clients schedule. If you do add a Service by mistake, you can easily delete it (until you start to start to schedule it).

Type

If you have already setup your Service Types, you can select the appropriate one from the drop down list by clicking on the Set button on the right, opposite the word “Type”. This list includes all of the Service Types that you have setup in your system configuration. For information on setting up your Service Types, see System Configuration.

Skills

You can indicate what specific Skills are needed on this Service, if you wish. If you do that, Rosemark will help you find Caregivers with those Skills, when it comes time to Schedule the Service. It will also limit the ability to Assign Shifts to Caregivers without these Skills. To see more detail about setting up and using these, see the Skills Matching section.

Times

Next, you need to define the times that Service is needed. Click on the Times button to open the Times  for Service form, covered in the section entitled Times for Service Form.

Payment Obligations

Payment Obligations define who is paying for the Service, and for what time period. This includes cases where the Client is paying for their own Service. To add a Payment Obligation, just click on the Add button. You will then put in who the Customer (Payer) is and when the Payment Obligation starts (and, potentially, when it ends). More detail about this can be found in Customers and Payment Obligations.

Assignments

If any Caregivers have been assigned to this Service, these Assignments will be listed here.

Deleting a Service

If you accidentally add a Service that you dont want, you can easily remove it. From the Client's Summary tab, just right-click on the Service in the list and choose Delete Service (or select it and hit the Delete key).

You can also delete a Service directly from the Service form. Click on the File menu and select Delete.

Note that this can only be done with a Service that does not have any Shifts. Once you start assigning Shifts, you would have to remove all Shifts (including Open Shifts) from the Planners Shift List before deleting the Service. Payment Obligations (if they have a Customer) will also prevent you from removing a Service. If you try to remove a Service that has any of these things, you'll get a prompt that explains why you can't.
