Multiple Services

When do I need to Add an additional Service?

Usually, a Client has a single Service; however, in some cases, it is desirable to have more than one Service. This can happen when a Client's needs change significantly or if a Client receives very different care that calls for a separate Service Type.

Here are some examples of times when adding an additional Service IS called for.

an established Client has been getting companion care and now needs much more help, requiring a personal care assistant or a live-in. Use: change the old Service' status to Discontinued, add a new Active Service.
a Client has regular personal care every weekday and nursing care a couple times a month. Use: add two active Services, each with a different Service Type corresponding to the kind of care provided.
Medicaid or other rules require that certain shifts be accounted for separately.

Here are examples of times when a second Service is NOT usually called for.

a Client's schedule changes, requiring more or fewer shifts, but the basic kind of service remains the same. Use: just adjust the Times for Service.
a Client's bill rate changes. Use: change the bill rate either in the Payment Obligation or in the Pay/Bill Code (for default rates), with an appropriate Effective Date.

Adding an additional Service

You can add an additional Service the same way you added the first one. Just click on the Add button on the Client's Summary tab. Rosemark will warn you about adding an additional Service with the following message:

This is mainly to help prevent new users from accidentally adding unneeded Services. If you are sure, just click Yes and the new Service will open. Proceed to choose the Service Type, set the Payment Obligation and setup the Times for Service as needed.
