Caregiver Service Types

Previous   Top Next

You can control which Service Types a Caregiver can be assigned to, as well as the Pay Rate the Caregiver will normally get when they work on Services of each type. This is accomplished in the Caregiver Service Types screen, which you get to by clicking on the Service Types button.

Adding, Removing and Editing Caregiver Service Types

To add a new Service Type to a Caregiver, just click on the Add button. A list of available Service Types (not including ones they already work) appears. Just select one or more and click OK. The Service Type will be added, with an Effective Date taken from the earliest Active entry in the Caregiver's Availability and Status screen.

To change the Effective Date, just click on the "X" next to the date, then click Add New and choose the date you'd like it to begin.

You may notice an entry with an Effective Date in parentheses: this indicates that a Pay Rate is being inherited from an upper level that has its own effective date (Pay/Bill Code or Caregiver Default Rate).

To remove the Service Type altogether, just remove any dates present and click OK.

Effect on Assigning Shifts

When a Caregiver is placed on a Planner, they will not show as available to take shifts unless they have that Planner's Service Type in their list. You can still place them on the Planner to view their schedule, but red "potential shifts" won't show up. You can override this by checking the Possibly Available checkbox. When you go to assign the shift in that case, you will be given a warning that the Caregiver does not work this Service Type. Click Yes to do it anyway.

When you click on Add Available, the same rules apply: it will not consider Caregivers who don't work that Service Type to be available to take the Shifts unless you check the Possibly Available option.

Note that, on a Service without a Service Type, all Active Caregivers will be assignable (without warning).

Inquiry Caregivers

In some agencies (depending on things like state regulations and reporting requirements), it may be advantageous to keep new Caregivers with a status of Inquiry until they actually start being assigned to shifts. For example, in some states a Caregiver who is called "Active" is given all the rights of a full employee, including unemployment benefits.

Rosemark allows you to have Inquiry Caregivers setup with times of availability, and will even allow you to put them on Planners and assign shifts to them. To do so, just check the Include Inquiry box on the Planner. At that point, the list in the Add Caregivers box will include Active & Inquiry Caregivers, and the Inquiry Caregivers will be included in searches (Add Available or Add Possibly Available).

You can then Tentatively Assign them, as well as marking their shifts Shift Offer and Refused Assignment. However, if you actually go to assign them, you will get a warning like this:

You must select Yes in order to assign the Caregiver, which will also change their status to Active as of the beginning of that week.
